Foundation English Programmes

Summary

The Avon College Foundation English programme is designed for international students who need to improve their English language skills. You will have access to our learning resources and facilities and develop your language skills in a supportive academic environment. Your course will emphasise academic rather than colloquial English, and you will acquire the study skills needed to meet the English language entry requirements for our Higher Education programmes as well the confidence to operate in English in every aspect of your life.

Core Models

Module A: English Language (IELTS B1/B2 Preparation)

Skills that meet the changing environment of healthcare are the vision and research skills as well as the ability to manage continuous organisational improvement included in the ATHE Level 7 Diploma in Healthcare Management.

Module B: English for Business Purposes

This module aims to equip students with the English skills they need to communicate fluently and accurately in English within a business / commercial context.

Module C: English for Academic Purposes

This module aims to enable students to communicate effectively in a range of academic situations.

Module D: Study Skills

This module aims to develop the independent study skills that students need to succeed in a UK academic environment and to help them become familiar with UK education and UK culture.

Course Term

8 weeks/ Module 15 hours/ week

Entry requirements

  • A high school certificate from the student’s home country.
  • Age 18 years old or above.
  • Applicants for this course are required to attend a Skype or telephone interview prior to enrolment either in the UK or in the student’s country of origin to gain admission onto the accelerated programme.
